Acceptable Use Policy

Last updated: March 2026

This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") sets out the rules for using the Haul e-commerce platform operated by Huskai ("we", "us", "our"). This policy applies to all Merchants who create stores on Haul and forms part of our Terms of Service.

Our goal is to provide a safe, trustworthy platform for independent sellers and their customers. These rules exist to protect everyone in the Haul community.

1. General Principles

When using Haul, you must:

  • Comply with all applicable laws and regulations in the UK and in any country where you sell or ship products.
  • Be honest and transparent with your customers about your products, pricing, and business practices.
  • Treat customers fairly and handle disputes, refunds, and complaints in good faith.
  • Respect the intellectual property rights of others.
  • Use the platform only for its intended purpose: selling legitimate products through your online store.

2. Prohibited Products

You must not sell or list the following products on Haul. This list is not exhaustive — we reserve the right to remove any product we reasonably believe is inappropriate, unsafe, or illegal.

2.1 Illegal or Regulated Items

  • Illegal drugs, controlled substances, or drug paraphernalia
  • Prescription medicines or regulated medical devices (unless you hold the appropriate licences)
  • Weapons, ammunition, explosives, or items designed to cause harm
  • Stolen goods or goods obtained through illegal means
  • Products that violate UK export controls or trade sanctions
  • Products that infringe intellectual property rights (counterfeits, replicas, unlicensed merchandise)

2.2 Harmful or Dangerous Products

  • Products that have been recalled or banned for safety reasons
  • Hazardous materials without proper safety labelling and compliance
  • Products marketed with false health or safety claims
  • Items intended to facilitate illegal activity

2.3 Adult and Offensive Content

  • Pornographic or sexually explicit material
  • Products that promote hatred, discrimination, or violence against any individual or group based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or any other protected characteristic
  • Products that glorify terrorism, extremism, or violence
  • Products that exploit or endanger children in any way

2.4 Misleading or Deceptive Products

  • Counterfeit goods or goods falsely described as being from a particular brand
  • Products with misleading descriptions, fake reviews, or deceptive marketing
  • Pyramid schemes, multi-level marketing (MLM), or get-rich-quick schemes
  • Products sold primarily for the purpose of phishing, scamming, or fraud

2.5 Digital and Intangible Items

  • Stolen digital accounts, licence keys, or credentials
  • NFTs, cryptocurrencies, or financial instruments (unless you are regulated to do so)
  • Personal data, email lists, or databases containing personal information

2.6 Animal Products

  • Products made from endangered species or in violation of CITES regulations
  • Live animals
  • Products derived from animal cruelty

3. Prohibited Conduct

Beyond what you sell, the following behaviours are not permitted on Haul:

3.1 Platform Misuse

  • Creating multiple accounts to circumvent restrictions or bans
  • Using the platform for purposes other than running a legitimate online store
  • Attempting to access other merchants' accounts, stores, or data
  • Interfering with the platform's operation, security, or performance
  • Using automated tools, bots, or scripts in ways that harm the platform or other users
  • Scraping, copying, or extracting data from other merchants' stores

3.2 Communication Misuse

  • Sending spam, unsolicited marketing, or bulk messages to customers who have not opted in
  • Harassing, threatening, or abusing customers or other merchants
  • Impersonating Huskai, Haul, or any other person or organisation
  • Posting false, misleading, or defamatory content

3.3 Legal and Compliance Violations

  • Failing to comply with consumer protection laws (e.g. distance selling regulations, right to cancel)
  • Collecting customer data in violation of UK GDPR or other data protection laws
  • Failing to display required legal information (business address, returns policy, etc.)
  • Tax evasion or failure to comply with VAT obligations
  • Money laundering or other financial crimes

4. Product Listing Standards

All product listings on Haul should meet these minimum standards:

  • Accurate descriptions: Clearly and honestly describe what the customer will receive, including materials, dimensions, and any limitations.
  • Clear pricing: Display the total price including VAT (where applicable). Do not hide mandatory fees or charges.
  • Genuine images: Use photographs that accurately represent the product. Stock photos are acceptable only if they genuinely represent what will be delivered.
  • Honest availability: Do not list products that are permanently out of stock or that you have no intention of fulfilling.
  • Shipping information: Clearly state shipping costs, delivery timeframes, and the countries you ship to.

5. Enforcement

We take violations of this policy seriously. Our approach to enforcement is proportionate — we aim to work with merchants to resolve issues wherever possible.

5.1 How We Detect Violations

  • Customer complaints and reports
  • Merchant reports
  • Our own monitoring and review processes
  • Payment processor alerts (from Stripe)
  • Legal or regulatory notifications

5.2 Actions We May Take

Depending on the severity and nature of the violation, we may:

  1. Issue a warning: For first-time or minor violations, we will contact you, explain the issue, and give you a reasonable timeframe to fix it.
  2. Remove specific products: We may remove individual listings that violate this policy.
  3. Restrict your account: We may temporarily limit your ability to add new products or accept orders while an issue is being investigated.
  4. Suspend your store: For serious or repeated violations, we may take your store offline temporarily.
  5. Terminate your account: For the most serious violations (illegal activity, fraud, or repeated disregard for this policy), we may permanently close your account.

5.3 Immediate Action

In cases involving illegal activity, imminent harm to consumers, fraud, or content that exploits children, we may take immediate action (including suspension or termination) without prior notice.

5.4 Appeals

If you believe we have taken action against your account in error, you can appeal by emailing hello@huskai.co.uk with the subject line "AUP Appeal". We will review your appeal within 14 days and respond with our decision.

6. Reporting Violations

If you believe a merchant or product on Haul violates this policy, please report it to us:

  • Email: hello@huskai.co.uk
  • Include the store name, product URL (if applicable), and a description of the issue.

We review all reports and will take appropriate action. We may not be able to share the outcome of our investigation due to privacy considerations, but we take every report seriously.

7. Your Responsibilities

As a Haul merchant, you are ultimately responsible for:

  • Knowing and following the laws that apply to your products and business.
  • Regularly reviewing your product listings to ensure ongoing compliance.
  • Keeping up to date with changes to this policy.
  • Training any staff who manage your store about these rules.

If you are unsure whether a product is permitted on Haul, contact us at hello@huskai.co.uk before listing it. We are happy to help.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Acceptable Use Policy from time to time. We will notify merchants of material changes by email at least 14 days before the changes take effect. The "last updated" date at the top of this page indicates when the policy was last revised.
